Raymond Gurner Sr.

Raymond A. Gurner Sr., 59, of Sunnyview Nursing Home died Tuesday evening at Sunnyview after an illness.

Born in Butler, April 2, 1945, he was the son of the late John N. Gurner and the late Eugenia E. Sgro Gurner Carpenter.

He was a disabled veteran and served in the Navy during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Gurner was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.

Surviving are two sons, Raymond A. Gurner Jr. of Allentown and Damian N. Gurner of Butler; a brother, James Gurner of Slippery Rock; three sisters, Lucy Patricia Gurner and Mary Ann Gurner Young, both of Butler, and Mrs. John (Stella) Petrie of Alhambra, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter and two brothers.

GURNER - Friends of Raymond A. Gurner Sr., who died Tuesday, March 15, 2005, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 429 Center Ave. A blessing service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. James Dolan, his church pastor, officiating. Burial will be at St. Michael Cemetery.The Bereavement Group of St Michael Parish will meet at 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home to hold a scriptural wake service.
