Tigers hold off Raiders rally

Dave Monteleone scored 10 points for the Seneca Valley boys basketball team, but he could not stop another section loss for the Raiders as North Allegheny came out on top 55-39 Tuesday night.

Seneca Valley (6-14, 1-10) rallied in the third quarter, but could not overcome a slow first-half start.

The Raiders will face rival Butler on Friday.

Trailing by 12 points after four events, the Slippery Rock girls swimming team rallied for an 86-83 win over rival Grove City.Vicky Kosiorek won the 100-yard butterfly and Melanie Prelec and Andrea Shaffer placed third and fourth to get the Rockets rolling again.Whitney Snyder won the 100-yard freestyle and teamed with Britley Raabe, Alyssa Martinex and Rachel Opp to win the 200 freestyle relay to clinch the victory.The Slippery Rock girls 400 relay team of Calley Bridges, Bethany Johnston, Kosiorek and Lauren Tibbens broke their school record by 1.57 seconds with a mark of 4 minutes, 14.22 seconds.The 200-medley relay of Johnson, Kosiorek, Tibbens and Raabe also broke their own school record with a mark of 2:08.50.On the boys side, Slippery Rock beat Grove City 78-48. Nathan Eilenfelt won the 200 individual medley and the 100 breaststroke to lead the way for the Rockets.

Justin Simons, Jason Melton, Erica Leslie, Brian Osche and James Kerr were the top shooters for Butler in a 800-67x-797-63x loss to Mt. Lebanon Tuesday.

Franklin Regional 3, Seneca Valley 2 —The Panthers edged the Raiders in this contest at Warrendale Blade Runners Tuesday. No other details were available.
