Jeanne Dunlap

Jeanne Dunlap, 86, of Chicora, a well-known retired registered nurse, passed away peacefully at 5:05 p.m. Wednesday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.

Jeanne was born in East Brady on Nov. 4, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Lillian Jordan Yount.

She was a 1945 graduate of East Brady High School and a 1948 graduate of the Butler County Memorial Hospital School of Nursing.

In her earlier years Jeanne was employed by the Deshon VA Hospital in Butler. She also had been employed by Magee Women's Hospital in Pittsburgh. For more than three decades Jeanne was employed as a registered nurse at Dr. Ernest Molchany's office in Chicora.

Following her employment with Dr. Molchany, she was employed as a cardiac rehabilitation nurse for Dr. Sethi in East Brady and in Butler.

Jeanne was married on Dec. 22, 1949, at the First Presbyterian Church in East Brady to Melvin J. Dunlap. Mr. Dunlap preceded her in death on Dec. 18, 1999.

She was a longtime member of the Union First Presbyterian Church in Cowansville where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She was a member of the Rivers Bend Quilting Guild at Bradys Bend.

She enjoyed baking cookies and the company of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jeanne was a past matron and life member of the Chicora Chapter 354 Order of the Eastern Star, now affiliated with Butler Chapter 45 Order of the Eastern Star. Jeanne led Silver Sneakers, an exercise group for seniors.

Jeanne is survived by her three sons, Melvin J. Dunlap Jr., Randy L. Dunlap and his wife, Diana, and Jeffrey W. Dunlap and his wife, Lisa, all of Chicora; her four grandchildren, Jason Dunlap and his wife, Holly, Jennifer Graham and her husband, Matthew, Jeremy Dunlap and his wife, Shanon, and Ashley Cooper and her husband, Corey, all of Chicora; her eight great-grandchildren, Conrad, Abigail, Jaylee, Cole, Arianna, Hunter, Caden, and Madelyn; her sister, Donna Olcus of Kittanning, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her two grandsons, Nathan James Dunlap, who died on May 3, 1985, and Nicholas George Dunlap, who died on Feb. 23, 2004, and her sister, Alice Stanley.

Dunlap— The friends of Jeanne Dunlap, who passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2014, will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora-Fenelton Road, Chicora, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today.A funeral service will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Mary Marks King, pastor of the First Union Presbyterian Church, Cowansville, officiating. Interment will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Park, Worthington.Members of the Butler Chapter 45 Order of Eastern Star will conduct a memorial service at 6:45 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.Memorial contributions in Mrs. Dunlap's memory may be made to the VNA Inpatient Hospice 115 Technology Drive, Butler, PA 16001.Condolences may be sent by visiting www.hilefh.com.
