5:50 p.m. Saturday — Steven A. Vlassich, 26, of Butler and April C. Ferguson, 27, of Emlenton, Venango County, were caught allegedly shoplifting merchandise at the Kmart store in Pullman Square.A store security employee spotted the pair taking items and stopped them. Ferguson was found with four pairs each of underwear and socks in her purse, valued at $39, according to court documents.Police said they found Vlassich with 18 pieces of costume jewelry and four pairs of socks in his pants pockets. The items are valued at a combined $278.At the police station, officers also turned up a used syringe and a spoon with suspected drug residue in Ferguson's purse.Ferguson, who has three prior shoplifting convictions, is charged with felony retail theft, conspiracy and possession of drug paraphernalia.Vlassich is charged with misdemeanor retail theft and conspiracy. Additionally, he is charged with trespass since he was previously told not to return to the store.Dec. 26 — Richard L. Spinneweber, 33, of Summit Township was arrested on charges he assaulted his ex-girlfriend, Samantha Ridinger, during a domestic dispute Dec. 24 at a home on Wagner Avenue. Ridinger told police that Spinneweber several times hit her in the face with his hand.Ridinger's nose was bleeding when officers found her, according to court documents.Spinneweber was arraigned on a charge of simple assault, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $30,000 bail.

2:44 p.m. Wednesday — John Patrick Conley III, 25, of Zelienople was arrested after a domestic dispute at a Campbell Avenue home. Conley was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $15,000 bail.11:20 p.m. Tuesday — Nicholas A. Cook, 19, of Butler was arrested after allegedly assaulting a 17-year-old girl during a domestic dispute at Old Plank Estates.Cook was arraigned on charges of simple assault, harassment and possession of drug paraphernalia, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.10:12 p.m. Tuesday — John L. Mohan Jr., 30, of Lyndora was arrested after a suspected domestic dispute in Lyndora. He was arraigned on a charge of simple assault, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.

1:34 a.m. Wednesday — Justin M. Guerriero, 19, of Pittsburgh was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 8.7:47 a.m. Tuesday — A thief stole money from an employee's purse at Shelbourne Assisted Living on Dinnerbell Road. Police said the reported theft remains under investigation.8:10 a.m. Saturday — A vandal cut two welding wire cables from a truck at the Dinnerbell Garage on Dinnerbell Road. Thomas Geil Garage owns the truck.5:58 p.m. Dec. 27 — Robert C. Best, 27, of Butler was arrested on a warrant following a traffic stop. Best, who was riding in the car, was placed in the Butler County Prison.A search of the car turned up a syringe and spoon under the driver's seat. Police charged the driver, Jesse Weaver, 24, of Butler, with possession of drug paraphernalia and driving without insurance10:46 p.m. Dec. 25 — Jack Orseno, 69, of Franklin, Venango County, was seriously injured when the car he was driving crossed the center line and slammed head-on into a Vogel garbage truck on Route 228 east.Middlesex Township volunteer firefighters had to extricate Orseno from the wreckage. He was taken to UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh. Edward T. Mueller, no age given, of Butler was driving the truck. He apparently was not hurt.8:20 a.m. Dec. 24 — Joanne Foringer, 54, of Valencia was hurt when she lost control of her car, and it traveled over a culvert and struck a tree on Leslie Road. Foringer was treated at UPMC Passavant Cranberry for a minor injury.3:23 p.m. Dec. 23 — Darla R. Mullin, 59, of Pittsburgh allegedly choked and chased Melissa Pielin, 34, of Pittsburgh during a domestic dispute at a home on County Side Drive. Mullin is charged with simple assault and harassment.6:55 a.m. Dec. 23 — A car driven by Ryan Henderson, 42, of Greensburg, Westmoreland County, traveled through a yard and struck a street sign and utility pole on Route 228 east. He was taken to UPMC Passavant Cranberry with moderate injuries.Henderson told police he lost control of his car when he swerved to avoid a deer on the road.

Tuesday — A home in the 600 block of Ridgeway Avenue was burglarized in the early morning. Police released no other information about the break-in. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-458-7925.Monday — Police are investigating a hit-and run accident in the alley in the 300 block of West Main Street that damaged a 2004 Toyota Camry.Sunday — A Huffy bicycle was reported stolen from the porch of a home in the 100 block of Dale Street. The owner told police that he last saw his bike, valued at $100, on Dec. 26.Sunday — A thief overnight stole several a items from a vehicle parked on Edgewood Avenue. Police remind residents to lock their cars at night.9:30 p.m. Saturday — Jamie A. Guthrie, 43, of Mercer was arrested for driving under the influence at the Country Fair store on South Center Street Extension.Dec. 24 — One person was hurt in a two-vehicle crash at Edgewood and Hillcrest avenues. The wreck happened when Barbara A. Brannon, 39, of Fredonia ran a stop sign and struck a car driven by Sarah Phenicie, 26, of Franklin, Venango County.Phenicie was treated at the Grove City Medical Center for minor injuries.Police cited Brannon for a stop sign violation.

1:21 a.m. today — Joshua R. Gauger, 27, of Watsontown, Northumberland County, lost control of his car and struck a utility pole along Crestview Road just south of West Cooper Street in Slippery Rock Township.6:44 p.m. Thursday — Larry James Thompson, 64, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on North Duffy Road in Center Township.4:05 p.m. Thursday — A car driven by Jennifer L. Heintzelman, 37, of Butler struck a curb and crashed on Route 8 just north of Johnson Drive in Center Township. She was cited for a lane violation.Thursday — Someone broke into Mars Pizza on Pittsburgh Street, Mars, and made off with a white security box containing $122. The burglary happened between midnight Wednesday and 4:13 a.m. Thursday. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.Dec. 24 — Police charged Gary O. Montgomery, 44, of Parker with drunken driving stemming from a Dec. 10 hit-and run crash in Concord Township. Montgomery allegedly fled from the two-vehicle wreck about 1:45 p.m. at Route 38 and Beach Road.Troopers a short time later caught Montgomery nearby trying to leave in a different vehicle. Montgomery, who had minor injuries and smelled of alcohol, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for treatment and for a blood test.A toxicology report Dec. 16 showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.249 percent, or three times the state's 0.08 percent legal limit.Montgomery is charged with DUI, driving with a suspended license, failing to give information and render aid after an accident, driving at an unsafe speed, careless driving, and a seat belt violation.Dec. 24 — Timothy A. Montgomery, 48, of Worthington, Armstrong County, was charged with driving drunk in connection with a Dec. 5 wreck in Clearfield Township. Police allege the suspect was more than triple the state's legal limit about 6:10 p.m. when his car collided with another car on Route 422 near Burke Road.Troopers said Montgomery admitted to having had three drinks before the crash.He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test, which indicated his blood-alcohol level was 0.267 percent. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated.Montgomery is charged with DUI, a lane violation and careless driving.

2:24 p.m. Tuesday — A car driven by Thomas J. Zenobi, 48, of Grove City slid on snow and struck another car on the Interstate 80 off-ramp at Route 173 in Wolf Creek Township.Police cited Zenobi for driving too fast for conditions. Jessica E. Dericco, 20, of Hadley was the other driver.1:30 p.m. Dec. 27 — A pickup truck driven by Dylan R. Moore, 20, of Mercer pulled out of a driveway and struck a sport utility vehicle on Old Ash Road about four-tenths of a mile south of Route 258 in Springfield Township.Police cited Moore for improperly crossing or entering a road.Ted P. Nogay, 58, of Hermitage was driving the SUV.
