Woman pushed out of moving car
A woman was pushed out of a moving car on Route 228 during an argument Thursday night with her boyfriend, who drove away, authorities said.
Two other motorists saw the alleged victim tumble from the vehicle shortly before 9 p.m. and stopped to help her.
Cranberry Township police several hours later arrested Dennis J. Lange II, 35, of Seven Fields on misdemeanor assault charges.
The victim, Nicole M. Slade, was treated at UPMC Passavant hospital in Cranberry for injuries.
The two witnesses- turned Good Samaritans told police that they helped the injured Slade into their vehicle and drove her to the nearby Target store parking lot at the Cranberry Commons shopping plaza, according to court documents.
Once there, the witnesses called 911. Police and emergency crews said Slade was bleeding from above her left eye and complained of rib pain. She appeared to have road rash-type injuries on both knees.
She also had “red-hand-shaped marks around her neck,” police said, which she got when Lange choked her.
Slade recounted that she was a front-seat passenger in Lange’s Acura sedan that he was driving east on Route 228, police said. At some point, he got angry and placed his hands around her neck.
“She became afraid for her life,” documents said, “and opened the passenger side door to possibly escape from Lange.”
The defendant noticed the door was opened and allegedly pushed her from the car. He drove away, investigators said, leaving his injured girlfriend behind.
Police at 5 a.m. Friday arrested Lange at his home.
District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned the suspect on charges of simple assault and harassment. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail following arraignment.
