9:17 p.m. Saturday — Robert H. Vanscoy, 45, was arrested after he allegedly strangled a woman during a domestic dispute at his home in the 300 block of Negley Avenue.
The victim told police, according to court documents, that Vanscoy punched her in the face, and placed both of his hands around her throat. A witness corroborated the woman’s account.
The defendant was arraigned on a felony charge of strangulation and a misdemeanor charge of simple assault. He was placed in Butler County Prison on $7,500 bail following arraignment.

5:45 p.m. Saturday — Police found a set of keys for a boat at South Eberhart Road and Route 68. The owners can claim the keys by calling police at 724-285-9600.
[naviga:h3]State Attorney General’s Office[/naviga:h3]
Aug. 3 — Alec J. Barbella, 22, of Lyndora was charged with having a suspected marijuana pipe in June when agents with the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General’s Bureau of Narcotics served a search warrant at a home on South Sixth Avenue in Butler.
Authorities said they found Barbella at the house. A pat-down search turned up the pipe. He is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Thursday — Michael J. Ritzert, 55, of Chicora was charged with having a suspected drug-smoking pipe stemming from a traffic stop last month in Center Township. Police said Ritzert was a passenger in the vehicle they pulled over about 11:30 p.m. July 29 on Route 8.
A search of his book bag, according to court documents, turned up the brass pipe. Police also said Ritzert was “highly intoxicated” and was “uncooperative” while being detained.
He is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct.
[naviga:h3]State Police, Kittanning[/naviga:h3]
Saturday — A suspected illegal immigrant was arrested following a traffic stop on Route 28 south, about three miles north of exit 18 in North Buffalo Township.
Police said they contacted the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement and learned that the suspect, Tamara E. Jimenez Flor, 26, of Ecuador, was unlawfully in the country.
She also was cited for driving without a license and speeding.

Sunday — Police reported that someone stole an unspecified amount of money Aug. 5 from Fuzziwig’s Candy Factory at Premium Outlets in Springfield Township.
The money had been left on a table in a back room at the store when it was taken, according to a police report. Police said they have no suspects, leads or witnesses.
10:31 a.m. Saturday — No one was injured when a Lawrence County teenager lost control of his pickup truck and hit a sign, utility pole and culvert along Route 258 in Liberty Township, Mercer County.
Police said William, R. Duell, 18 of Volant, was wearing a seat belt. He was cited for disregarding traffic lanes. His truck was towed.
