4th of July celebrations in Butler County

Zambelli Fireworks of Warrendale will set off fireworks from the Michelle Krill Field at Historic Pullman Park at dusk Thursday.

The annual fireworks display at the Big Butler Fair is scheduled for dusk Thursday at the fairgrounds in Franklin Township.

Mars celebration will start with the inaugural Mars Independence Day 4K at 9 a.m. and 1K Run/Walk at 9:45 a.m. at the flying saucer on the corner of Grand Avenue.The celebration continues at 3:30 p.m. with a picnic-style meal downtown. Children's activities and live music will be offered.The parade begins at 5 p.m. and last about an hour as it travels from Beaver Street to Pittsburgh Street to Grand Avenue.The evening will cap off with fireworks at dusk.

New Life Church will have a free fireworks show Wednesday at 139 Knoch Road. The church parking lot opens at 8 p.m. and the fireworks will commence at dusk. People should take their own chairs and blankets. There will also be a DJ, games and activities.There will be free bus shuttles from Knoch High School beginning at 6 p.m. Two shuttles will run continuously until 8 p.m., and then begin taking people back to their cars around 10:15 p.m.An off-site event at South Butler County School District's Primary School will be provided for people having trouble getting to the church property or who have children who like fireworks, but are afraid of loud noises. The site will also have music.

A daylong celebration will be held in Zelienople, with the 5th annual Kampas Orthodontics Firecracker 5K starting at 8 a.m. Thursday. The race course winds from Zelienople Community Park through Zelienople and Harmony. A post-race breakfast and awards ceremony is scheduled for 9:15 a.m.The annual Independence Day parade, put on by the Zelienople Rotary Club, begins at 11 a.m. and runs down Main Street and finishes in Community Park.Community Days celebration begins at 1 p.m. and will feature two food trucks, a roaming magician, two bounce houses and a dunk tank. There will also be live music throughout the day. The pool will be open until 6 p.m. and offer free admission.Fireworks in the park are scheduled to be set off at dusk.
