Teen killed in Sunday afternoon car crash in northern Butler County

A Butler area teenager died Sunday afternoon from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash in northern Butler County.

State police are investigating the wreck that occurred about 4:10 p.m. in Worth Township.

Police said Cole J. Wilson, of Franklin Township, was driving a Ford Fusion and failed to stop at the intersection of Route 108 and the Interstate 79 northbound ramp. It was not clear from the police report which direction the teen was driving.

His car was struck on the driver's side by a Subaru Forrester driven by Robert Richardson, 34, of Bessemer, Lawrence County.

The teen was taken to Grove City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 5:22 p.m. of blunt force trauma to the chest as a result of the crash.

The Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Company, Slippery Rock EMS and the Pine Township Engine Company in Mercer County assisted at the scene.
