Beverly Rose Alborn Wimer
Beverly Rose Alborn Wimer, 86, of Grove City passed away Friday at Maplewood Senior Living in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, following a short illness.
She was born Feb. 6, 1931, in New Castle, Pa., to Clare Samuel and Hildreth Antoinette Walton Alborn. Beverly grew up in Ellwood City, graduating from Lincoln High School and New Castle Business College.
During those years, she enjoyed ice skating, roller skating, music and art.
On June 29, 1951, she married Kenneth Dale Wimer. Only a few months after marriage, she was stricken with polio and soon became a polio survivor who was determined to walk on her own and live independently.
Beverly raised her family as a homemaker and was employed in secretarial positions. She served the Grove City community as president of the Junior Women's Club, the Garden Club, Football Mother's Club, PTA, the Community Library Board and Order of the Eastern Star.
She was the organist for the Eastbrook Presbyterian, her childhood church. Survivors include her son, Derran K. Wimer and his wife, Susan, of Hudson, Ohio; her son-in-law, William Doyle of Mercer; four grandchildren, Michelle L. Jordan, Nicole J. Fleming, Andrew K. Wimer and Bradley J. Wimer; one stepgrandson, Zachary Doyle; and four great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth in 2003; her daughter, Bonnie Wimer Doyle in 2017; and her infant granddaughter, Lia Vislay in 1984.
WIMER — Family of Beverly Rose Alborn Wimer, who died Friday, Jan. 26, 2018, will receive friends from 10 a.m. until a funeral service at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home, Village of Leesburg, 1778 Perry Highway, Volant, Pa.Interment will be at the Eastbrook Cemetery, Hickory Township, Lawrence County.In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Grove City United Way for the Imagination Library, P.O.
