Tuesday — Police obtained an arrest warrant for Dennis Robert John, 40, of Butler on charges he broke into the Cunningham Shanor building in the 400 block of New Castle Street. John allegedly smashed a glass door to get inside about 1:15 a.m. Feb. 19.
Surveillance cameras at a convenience store nearby helped investigators identify the suspect. Damage and cleanup costs were estimated at $625.
John is charged with felony trespass and misdemeanor mischief.
[naviga:h3]Butler County Detectives[/naviga:h3]
Tuesday — John E. Hardt, 58, of Middlesex Township was charged with walking away from house arrest and remaining undetected for nearly five months.
Police said Hardt on Aug. 5 was placed on house arrest for 90 days. But three days later, he made several unauthorized stops and allowed his electronic monitoring bracelet’s battery to die.
Authorities learned of his whereabouts Dec. 30 when they got a tip that he was working in Pittsburgh. Butler County probation officers took him into custody after he was arrested at a home in Pittsburgh. He is in the Butler County Prison
Detectives noted Hardt had all of his house arrest items in his vehicle. He is charged with escape and criminal mischief.

11:54 a.m. Saturday — A car driven by Matthew W. Stalker, 16, of Butler pulled out of a driveway and collided with another car in the 300 block of Holyoke Road in Center Township. Linda I. Bowman, 53, of West Sunbury was the other driver.
Wednesday — Police charged Lynda D. Kerr, 41, of Summit Township with drunken driving stemming from a Feb. 4 traffic stop on Portman Road in Summit Township.
A breath test showed Kerr’s blood-alcohol level was 0.114 percent, court documents said. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law. She is charged with driving under the influence and driving a vehicle with an expired registration.
Feb. 22 — Russell D. Stroup, 37, of Concord Township was charged with drugged driving in connection with a Feb. 7 traffic stop on Route 38 north of Mahood Road in Oakland Township.
Stroup, who appeared impaired and failed field sobriety tests, admitted to taking three opioid-based Vicodin painkillers earlier in the day, according to court documents.
Police said they searched him and found a plastic baggie with suspected heroin in his pocket.
He also is charged with possession of a controlled substance, driving with a suspended license, driving without a license, disregarding traffic lanes and careless driving.
Feb. 22 — Police charged Robert C. Gould, 53, of Summit Township with being twice the legal limit for alcohol shortly after 7 p.m. Oct. 30 following a two-vehicle crash on Route 68 near Grant Avenue Extension in Oakland Township.
A breath-test showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.16 percent. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated.
Gould is charged with DUI, driving at an unsafe speed, careless driving and driving without a seat belt.
[naviga:h3]State Police, Kittanning[/naviga:h3]
6:37 p.m. Tuesday — A car driven by Carla O. Cochrun, 54, of Worthington struck and killed a deer on Route 422 in Plumcreek Township. Cochrun and her passengers, two girls, ages 10 and 16, were not hurt but the car had to be towed.
[naviga:h3]State Police, Punxsutawney[/naviga:h3]
Monday — The state police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement cited Rock Ann Haven on Greenwood Avenue in Butler Township for having a loudspeaker or stereo system that was too loud on 12 days between April 3 and Dec. 4, 2015.
An administrative law judge will hear the case.

Feb. 21 — Someone forced in a basement door and broke into a home on Harlansburg Road in Scott Township. It was not immediately known if anything was taken in the burglary that happened Feb. 20 or 21. The door had $500 in damage.
