Hubert “Hubie” R. Heitzer

Hubert “Hubie” R. Heitzer, 94, of East Butler died Monday evening in the comfort of his home.

Born June 27, 1922, in Butler, he was a son of the late Joseph M. Heitzer and Mary C. Mulraney Heitzer.

Hubie was a retired self-employed carpenter, was a member of St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church, where he was an usher and bell ringer for many years, and also belonged to the Holy Name Society. He was a life member of the R.C. Men's Club and the East Butler Fireman's Club. He was an expert woodworker, craftsman and cabinet maker and was proud to have built his own home. He was an avid card player and an expert archer and had been a well-known pool player in the Butler Area as he played in several leagues.

Surviving are his three sons, Tony Heitzer of Butler, Larry (Connie) Heitzer of Emlenton and Michael (Joyce) Heitzer of Butler; seven daughters, Martha (John) West of Butler, Rosemary Heitzer of East Butler, Patty (Ed) Beck of Chicora, Rita (Jim) Pritts of Renfrew, Emily Heitzer of Evans City, Elizabeth (Jeff) Rosellini of Boyers and Theresa Heitzer of Applewold; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth “Betty” J. Sintz Heitzer, who he married Aug. 17, 1944, and who died March 27, 2005; one infant daughter and one son; two sisters, Mary Louise Heitzer and Loretta Heitzer; one brother, Joseph Heitzer; one great-grandson, Keagan Peth; and one daughter-in-law, Shirley Heitzer.

HEITZER — Friends of Hubert “Hubie” R. Heitzer, who died Monday, Nov. 28, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church, 210 St. Wendelin Road. The Rev. Matthew McClain, pastor, will officiate.
