Susan L. Steighner
Susan L. Steighner, 79, of Butler passed away Saturday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born in Butler, Nov. 26, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Landgraf and Frances Slater Shearer.
A homemaker, she retired from Bell Telephone, where she worked for 31 years. She formerly was employed at Saxonburg Ceramics, and along with her husband, she owned and operated Moe's Dime Delivery Service for a number of years.
She was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church and the Pioneers of Bell Telephone.
She enjoyed reading and having lunch with her friends.
She is survived by one son, Stanley R. Steighner (Shirley) of Butler; one daughter, Terry L. Steighner (Larry Sassone) of Butler; one granddaughter, Amanda King (Horace) of Trenton, N.C.; one great-granddaughter, Samantha Jo King of Trenton, N.C.; two step-granddaughters, Angela Gregory of Cabot and Joyce McDonald of Butler; one step-grandson, Alex Sassone of Butler; two step-great-granddaughters, Cheyanne McDonald of Butler and Kaitlyn King of Trenton, N.C.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard J. Steighner, who passed away July 14, 1997; two brothers, and one sister.
<B>STEIGHNER</B> — Friends of Susan L. Steighner, who died Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, will be received in the <B>Martin Funeral Home</B>, 429 Center Ave., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church. Burial will take place in St. Michael Cemetery.Members of St. Paul Catholic Women and Christian Mothers will meet at the church at 12:35 p.m. Wednesday to recite the rosary.Information also is available at www.martinfh.net.
