Pauline 'Polly' Sankey
Pauline "Polly" Rodgers Sankey, 83, of Plain Grove Road, Volant, in Plain Grove Township, Lawrence County, died at 9 p.m. Tuesday at her home after a brief illness.
Born in Plain Grove Township, July 13, 1926, she was the daughter of Floyd Rodgers and Alice Stewart Rodgers.
She married Jack Howard Sankey on Aug. 15, 1944. He preceded her in death on April 12, 2006.
She and her husband, Jack, were self-employed farmers and the owner/operators of the Sankey Feed Mill in Plain Grove Township for more than 50 years.
She was a lifetime member of the Plain Grove Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir, participated in the Women's Guild and served on various committees.
She greatly enjoyed her family, friends and traveling.
Surviving are three daughters, Diana and her husband, Larry, Wagar of Lima, Ohio, Debra and her husband, Pat, Bonasera of Hermitage and Jacqueline and her husband, Tedd, Rhodes of Gettysburg. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Ronald, in 1969; four sisters, Eleanor Rodgers, Elizabeth "Betty" Ralston, Edith McGarvey and Gay Shaw; and a brother, Stewart Rodgers.
<B>SANKEY</B> — Visitation for Pauline "Polly" Rodgers Sankey, who died Tuesday, March 2, 2010, will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and from noon until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. Saturday at the <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock. The Rev. Dr. Stanley Keehlwetter, interim pastor of the Plain Grove Presbyterian Church, and the Rev. Robert Dayton, pastor of the Mahoning Presbyterian Church, will officiate.
