Dean R. Stroup Jr.
Dean R. “Archie” Stroup Jr., 83, of Karns City died at 9:25 a.m. Monday in Chicora Medical Center following a short illness.
Born in Chicora, Feb. 15, 1927, he was the son of the late Dean R. Stroup Sr. and the late Ruth Armstrong Stroup.
Mr. Stroup retired from Penreco in Karns City, where he had worked for 47 years.
He was a member of the Concord Presbyterian Church, Hooker.
Surviving are his wife, Wanda Cumberland Stroup, who he married Nov. 26, 1955; a daughter, Dena Hutchison and her husband, Jeff, of Chicora; a granddaughter, Jenna Hutchison of Chicora; his mother-in-law, Irene Cumberland of Hooker; three sisters, Inez Whitmire of Nitro, W.Va., Patty Dobson of Fairview and Shirley Wilson and her husband, Dick, of Coffee Creek, Mont.; four brothers, Ken Stroup and his wife, Marie, of Chicora, Terry Stroup and his wife, Bev, of Chicora, Dave Stroup and his wife, Pat, of Chicora and Garry Stroup and his wife, Becky, of Hilliards; and a sister-in-law, Wilda Stroup of Bruin.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Stroup.
<B>STROUP</B> Friends of Dean R. “Archie” Stroup Jr., who died Monday, Nov. 8, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at <B>STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME</B>, 111 E. Slippery Rock and Main streets, Chicora, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Concord Presbyterian Church, Hooker. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev. John Porter and the Rev. Robert Matthias officiating.
