Romeo Richard DeMatteis, 86, of Butler, passed away Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022, at Lowrie Place following an illness.

Born Sept. 17, 1935, in Butler, he was a son of the late Gesualdo “John” and Onorino “Nora” Alesii DeMatteis.

Rich was a steelworker who retired from the Butler Works of Armco Steel. He also was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

He was a member of All Saints Parish, Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.

He is survived by one sister, Angela DeMatteis of Chicago.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

DEMATTEIS — There will be no visitation for Romeo Richard DeMatteis, who died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022.

Private funeral services were conducted, and burial took place in Calvary Cemetery.

Arrangements were entrusted to the care of MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 429 Center Ave., Butler.
