John W. Nolan

Nolan

John W. Nolan, 70, of Butler passed away Thursday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born in Butler, Nov. 13, 1938, he was the son of the late William F. and Gertrude Ammon Nolan.

He was a commander in the U.S. Navy, retiring after 25 years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War.

He received a bachelor of science degree in business economics from Villanova University. He received a master's degree in business administration from George Washington University.

He was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, the Military Officers Association of America and the West Deer Township Sportsmen's Club. He was a life member of VFW Post 249, and he was a life member of the National Rifle Association.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth B. Brown Nolan, to whom he was married for 48 years; two sons, Robert W. Nolan and his wife, Audrey, of Mars and John A. Nolan and his wife, Laura, of Sun Prairie, Wis.; three grandchildren, Courtnie Nolan of Mars, John R. Nolan of Mars and Andrew J. Nolan of Sun Prairie, Wis.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, William M. Nolan and James C. Nolan.

<B>NOLAN</B> — There will be no visitation. Private funeral services will be held for John W. Nolan, who died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery.Arrangements are by the <B>Martin Funeral Home</B>, 429 Center Ave. Information also is available at www.martinfh.net.
