Clara C. Armstrong

Clara C. Armstrong, 85, of Grant Avenue, Butler (Oakland Township) went home to be with her Lord on Thursday from the VNA Hospice following a short illness.

Born April 13, 1930, in Oakland Township, she was the daughter of the late Orie and Florence McMillen Mottern.

She was married for 64 years to Clair Armstrong, who survives.

Clara formerly was employed at Penn Champ in East Butler for several years. She was an active member of the Faith Fellowship Alliance Church, where she arranged the Sunday flower arrangement for 25 years. She enjoyed gardening, both flower and vegetable. Clara was an accomplished seamstress.

In addition to her husband, Clair, survivors include her daughter, Dlynn (Mike) Williams of Cumming, Ga.; her son, Jeff (Karen) Armstrong of Amherst, N.H.; one sister, Judy (Donald) Hays of Chicora; two brothers, Harry (Nadine) Mottern of Chicora and Bert (Beryl) Mottern of Sarver; and four grandchildren, Angela, Joelle, Samara and Rachel.

Clara was preceded in death by four sisters, Carrie June Mottern, Hazel Karenbauer, Alberta Callen and Leona Osche; one brother, Lee Mottern; and one granddaughter in infancy.

ARMSTRONG — Friends of Clara C. Armstrong, who died Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016, will be received on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at the Faith Fellowship Alliance Church. The Rev. Richard Jenks will officiate the services.
