Freda Mae Palmer

Freda Mae Palmer, 82, of Slippery Rock, Mercer Township, died at 10:55 p.m. Wednesday at the Grove Manor Nursing, Grove City.

Born in West Liberty, Dec. 8, 1927, she was the daughter of John Cahill McNees and Estella Jane Wimer McNees.

She was married to Leonard Earl Palmer on Dec. 24, 1949. He died Aug. 30, 1988.

She was a homemaker. Years ago, she was the head cook at the Slippery Rock High School cafeteria.

Mrs. Palmer was a member of the West Liberty United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, talking on the phone to her friend, Betty Drennen, and working in her yard.

Surviving are a daughter, Linda A. and her husband, Steve Arblaster of Slippery Rock; two sons, Larry L. and his wife, Debra, Palmer of Slippery Rock and Gary D. and his wife, Donna Sue, Palmer of Slippery Rock; and three sisters, Ruth Brown of Slippery Rock, Helen McCurdy of Prospect and Mary and her husband, James, Thomson of Cassadaga, N.Y. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Becky Geibel, John and Justin Palmer, Katie Kent and Grant Palmer

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Isaac, Merle, George, Russ and baby John; and a grandson, Steve Arblaster II.

<B>PALMER</B> — Visitation for Freda Mae Palmer, who died Wednesday, March 10, 2010, will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 until the time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday at the <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock. The Rev. James Lewis, pastor of the West Liberty United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will be at Greenlawn Burial Estates, Mount Chestnut.
