Dusan “Duke” Ambrose

Dusan “Duke” Ambrose, 86, of Cabot received his victory in Jesus Christ on Wednesday at the Concordia Lutheran Ministries.

Born June 15, 1929, in Cabot, he was the son of Andrew Ambrose and Judit Klinko.

Duke was a successful farmer and good mentor to the young farmers in the family. He also worked at the Butler County Mushroom Farm.

He was a lifelong member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Cabot. He enjoyed antique tractors and cars.

Duke was a loving and dedicated husband and father to his wife, Shirley Baumgartel Ambrose, who he married July 23, 1954; three sons, Richard Ambrose of Cabot, Dale (Sharon) Ambrose of Butler and John (Linda) Ambrose of Chicora; four daughters, Nancy (Jerry) Macurdy of Cabot, Eileen (Roy) Geary of Sarver, Susan (Jim) Osche of Cabot and Judye (Joshua) Abernathy of Apollo; two brothers, Steve (Betty) Ambrose of Cabot and Ed (Pat) Ambrose of Cabot; two sisters, Olga Johns of Cabot and Ruth (Roger) Dunn of Cummins, Ga.; 13 grandchildren, Joelle, Josh, Matthew (Amanda), Nick (Crystal), Lee (Anne), Christie (Brad), Gilbert, Jed, Hank, Ashby, Finnson, Huckston and Avanlye; and six great-grandchildren, Hailee, Blake, Isaac, Abagail, Eli and Lydia.

He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Andrew Ambrose, George Ambrose and William Ambrose; and one sister, MaryAnn Ambrose.

AMBROSE — Friends of Dusan “Duke” Ambrose, who died Wednesday, April 20, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Fox Funeral Home, Saxonburg. Services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke Lutheran Church with the Rev. Matthew Barry officiating.
