MaryJo DeMatteis
MaryJo DeMatteis, 69, of Lyndora passed away Wednesday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after suffering from Creutz-feldt-Jakob disease.
She was born May 8, 1941, in Butler, the daughter of the late Merritt Book Gibson and the late Violet (Smith) Gibson.
MaryJo had been a claims adjuster at Nationwide Insurance. She also was secretary at the Butler Elks and co-chairmanwoman for the Elks Home Service.
She was a member of the Oakview Golf Club and several bowling leagues. She was an avid bingo player.
Surviving are her two daughters, Shari DeMatteis Conti Penrod of Butler and Lisa Littlejohn of Lyndora; a niece who she raised, Amy Garbish Marnett of Lone Jack, Mo.; three grandsons, Mario Conti of Butler/Boyers, Brendon Littlejohn of Butler and Hayden Littlejohn of Butler; and a granddaughter, Merritt Penrod of Butler.
<B>DEMATTEIS</B> — Friends of MaryJo DeMatteis, who died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2010, will be received at <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
