Ivy Jayne Boyle
Ivy Jayne Carrier Boyle, 60, of West Sunbury passed away early Saturday morning at North Hills Passavant Hospital.
She was a nurse at St. John's in Mars taking care of her patients when she suddenly became ill.
She was born Jan. 31, 1955, in Natrona Heights, to the late Burnett (Bud) and Laura (Joan) Gamble Carrier.
Ivy was a graduate of Freeport High School in 1972 and a graduate of Lenape School of Nursing.
She worked at DuCo Ceramics in Saxonburg for many years and at St. John's Lutheran Home in Mars as a nurse for 20 years.
Ivy was a Protestant. She loved spending time with family and friends and loved her job as a nurse helping others.
Ivy was an avid Elvis fan, collecting memorabilia of his throughout the years. She liked playing slot machines and going on short trips with family.
She is survived by her husband and partner of 27 years, Robert Boyle; her devoted son, Paul Carrier of Cabot; her loving daughter, Cassie Carrier of Cabot; one brother, Clayton Carrier of Butler; and two sisters, Sherry (Charles) Peiffer of Sarver and Kim Woods of Sarver.
In addition, Ivy is survived by her nieces and nephews, who she loved as her own, Kevin Peiffer, Wade (Holly) Woods, Laura (Nic) Obringer, C.J. Carrier, and Amanda Carrier, all of Sarver; Elizabeth Carrier of Saxonburg and Elijah Martin Carrier of Butler; along with numerous great nieces and nephews, who brought great joy to her life.
Ivy also is survived by two stepsons and other nieces and nephews.
She also leaves numerous cousins and friends throughout the area.
Ivy has one surviving uncle, Charlie Gamble, who taught her how to play poker at the age of five.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her nephew, Buddy Peiffer.
BOYLE — Friends of Ivy Jayne Carrier Boyle, who died Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Fox Funeral Home, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg. Prayers and memories will be shared starting at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
