Madeline E. Stitt

Madeline E. Stitt, 80, of Chicora died Monday at Shadyside Hospital surrounded by her family after a brief illness.

Born Aug. 18, 1937, in Cadogan, Armstrong County, she was the daughter of Mark P. and Florence E. (Walker) Lehner.

On Aug. 24, 1957, Madeline married Ronald E. Stitt, who survives.

Madeline worked for Alltel Phone Co. in Kittanning for 21 years as the mailroom clerk.

She spent a large part of her life providing comfort and attention for those family members closest to her, always being sure they were cared for.

Madeline was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Bradys Bend, where she was always volunteering. She sang in the choir for many years, taught CCD when her kids were young and worked the annual Lenten fish dinners.

Madeline enjoyed sewing and baking, especially pies, and could always be found at her children and grandchildren's various activities and events.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald Stitt of Chicora; one daughter, Amy (Michael) Zanot of Butler; and one son, Daniel Stitt of Chicora; two grandchildren, Michael (Danielle) Stitt of Chicora and Hillary Stitt of East Brady; three great-grandchildren, Liam, Jax and Gabe Stitt; and one sister, Mary Lou Kinkela of Bradys Bend.

Madeline was preceded in death by her parents; one infant son, David; her daughter-in-law, Donna; and one grandson, Joshua Stitt.

STITT — Friends of Madeline E. Stitt, who died Monday, April 30, 2018, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Buechele Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 707 Kellys Way, East Brady.A parish prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. John Butler officiating.Committal services and burial will follow in St. Eusebius Cemetery.The Stitt family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Chicora Ambulance Service, P.O.
