State Rep. Carrie Lewis DelRosso, R-33rd, is running for lieutenant governor in the 2022 election. Saxonburg is among the many townships and boroughs the candidate is visiting to spread her message.

State Rep. Carrie Lewis DelRosso, R-33rd, will hold a meet-and-greet event at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company to discuss her candidacy for lieutenant governor in the May primary election.

DelRosso will share her vision for Pennsylvania’s future at the event, where supporters also can sign her candidate petition and discuss issues with the candidate.

DelRosso said she will discuss the reasons she decided to run for lieutenant governor, which included education, election integrity and ballot security, building the state back to where she feels it needs to be, and other issues.

“I love our state and that’s why I’m doing it,” DelRosso said.

Regarding issues facing small boroughs, such as Saxonburg, DelRosso pointed to economic development for small businesses.

“They are the backbone of our state and always have been,” she said.

She also said legislators must begin paying closer attention to infrastructure across the state.

“We need to be energy independent,” DelRosso said. “We’re sitting on top of one of the most abundant energy states in the world, and we’ve shut too much of it down.”

She also decried the declining population in Western Pennsylvania and throughout the state, which she blames on the loss of industry and the employment it provides.

“That’s why the people are leaving and that leaves blight and economic downturn,” DelRosso said.

The candidate, who hails from Scranton, has shared her message in more than 30 counties in the past three weeks, and has more visits planned.

“I love talking to our conservatives about what they want our agenda to be,” DelRosso said. “This is me working for you.”

She vows to do what is right for Pennsylvania and “make it a better state again.”

“I’m excited to visit Saxonburg,” DelRosso said. “I hope people will come and talk to me.”
