Donna Jean (Price) Shidemantle, 77, of Portersville, who served for 33 years as an elementary school teacher in the Slippery Rock Area School District, first at the Portersville-Muddy Creek Elementary School, and then at the Moraine Elementary School, died on Thursday morning, Feb. 11, 2021, at Newhaven Court Senior Community in Butler, after an extended illness.

Many also knew her as a longtime children’s Sunday school teacher, and choir member at the Portersville Evangelical Presbyterian Church, as well as a board member of Child Evangelism Fellowship of Butler County.

She was born May 28, 1943, at Jameson Memorial Hospital in New Castle, and was the daughter of the late Clarence V. and Elsie O. (McClymonds) Price.

She held two degrees from Slippery Rock University (B.S. and M.Ed.), and was also a 1961 graduate of Slippery Rock Area High School.

Mrs. Shidemantle married the love of her life, James I. Shidemantle of Portersville, at the Mountville Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Portersville on July 10, 1964. Mr. Shidemantle survives his wife.

She is also survived by her four children and their spouses, Dr. C. Scott (Wendy) Shidemantle of Beaver Falls, Mrs. Polly (Michael) Way of Savannah, Ga., Mrs. Amy (Angel) Soto of Acworth, Ga., and Mr. Timothy J. (Stacie) Shidemantle of Savannah, Ga.

She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, John and Luke Shidemantle, James, Christopher and Nichole Way, Jacqueline and Matthew Soto, and Morgan, Madison and Merrick Shidemantle.

In addition, she is survived by a sister, Mrs. Phyllis (William) Broaddus of Richmond, Va.; and two brothers, Mr. Melvin L. Price and Mr. Stanley (Tammy) Price of Portersville.

SHIDEMANTLE — With COVID-19 protocols in place, friends of Donna J. Shidemantle, who died Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021, will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Raisley Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 387 Main St., Prospect.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dana Opp, her church pastor officiating.

Inurnment will be this summer in the Portersville Evangelical Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
