David Lyle Hazlett
David Lyle Hazlett, 72, of Butler passed away at 12:25 p.m. Sunday while resting at his home.
He was born April 13, 1940, in Sharon to the late Raymond Hazlett and Helen Marie (Johnston) Brown.
Mr. Hazlett was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in peacetime at Redstone Arsenal in Alabama.
He was a sales manager, programmer and instructor at NCR and a data processing manager at Brookfield Dairy. After 30 years of continuous service, he retired from Oberg Industries in Freeport in 2002.
David enjoyed art, especially watercolors and photography. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved golf. He loved going to his cottage in Westford, Pa., and could fix just about anything. David was a devoted father, loving husband and a great “Pa Pa.” He was a man of dignity who trusted and had faith in Christ his Savior.
Mr. Hazlett is survived by his devoted wife, Beverly J. (Skarosi) Hazlett, who he married April 29, 1960; three loving children, his son, David J. Hazlett and his wife, Niki, of Butler and his two daughters, Cari Sue (Hazlett) Giardina of Clinton, Pa., and Julie (Hazlett) Vietmeier and her husband, Darin, of Butler; his nine grandchildren, Sara Marie Giardina, Stephen Joseph Giardina and his wife, Farran, Andrew Thomas Giardina, Kailey Alexandra Hazlett, Devin James Hazlett, Eva Grace Hazlett, Tanner Wyn Vietmeier, Colten David Vietmeier and Brett Cameron Vietmeier; his one great-granddaughter, Harper Elizabeth Giardina; two brothers, James Todd Hazlett of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Thomas Brown of Sharon; one sister, Patricia Patton and her husband, Roger, of Sharpsville, Pa.; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was like a son to his mother-in-law, Julie Skarosi of Greenville, who survives, and the late Joe Skarosi. He also is survived by two sister-in-laws, Judy Scibetta and her husband, Carmen, of Greenville and Diane Carpenter and her husband, Rudy, of Brookfield, Ohio.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, John Brown.
HAZLETT — Friends of David Lyle Hazlett, who passed away Sunday, June 10, 2012, will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Meridian United Presbyterian Church, 4150 Highland Ave., Butler, with the Rev. Stephen M. Franklin officiating.
