Council irons out requirements for Father Marinaro project
The renovation project planned for Father Marinaro Park is changing slightly.
The project was planned to add a new baseball field and renovate the existing one, and add a new basketball court, parking lot and playground at the park. The project will no longer install a new baseball field, but will instead create a multi-purpose field that can be used for soccer and football.
Butler City Council discussed the project at a forum meeting Thursday, where Mayor Bob Dandoy said the city will record an environmental covenant on the property’s deed. The covenant signifies that the project plan complies with requirements from the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, which also issued a $108,000 grant to the city to fund the park’s updates.
