Clay Township man loses RV home to fire
CLAY TWP — A man is homeless today after a fire started Monday in the recreational vehicle where he lived.
A neighbor called for help after smoke was spotted coming from 132 Valley View Lane. Firefighters arrived, entered the RV and extinguished the fire. But smoke and water damage rendered the RV a loss.
"We had a good quick knock down, but there was still so much damage," said West Sunbury Fire Chief Reid Campbell.
Larry Burts, no age available, was at work when the fire started. He lived alone in the RV as his permanent residence.
Campbell said the fire appears to have started in the area of the electrical connection and battery, but he will call in the state police fire marshal to investigate.
The damage is estimated at $10,000.
The Red Cross was called in to help Burts find housing and replace his lost belongings.
No one was injured.
Volunteers from Unionville and Prospect fire departments provided assistance to West Sunbury.
