Doris Irene Rieder
Doris Irene Rieder, 83, of Bruin passed away Monday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler with her family by her side.
She was born Jan. 4, 1929, in Freeport, the daughter of Paul and Pearl (Bowser) McDermott.
Doris was a lifetime resident of Bruin and was a faithful member of Bruin United Methodist Church.
She married James Rieder on Aug. 24, 1956, and they shared 50 years of marriage before his death in 2006.
Doris was employed with Ducco Ceramics for 12 years on the production line, but it was as a wife and mother that she found her true calling. She devoted herself wholly to her family.
Doris' favorite pastimes included cooking and canning. She was creative and liked to knit and crochet, and her analytical nature drew her to puzzle books and jigsaw puzzles in her later years. But for Doris, family always came first. She cherished all the time she spent with her children and grandchildren and appreciated the immeasurable joy they brought to her life. Her spirited personality and loving care will fondly be remembered by friends and family alike.
Her memory will be carried on by her sons, Ron L. Rieder and his wife, Tracy, of Butler and Chris P. Rieder of Bruin; her daughter, Brenda Dunmyre and her husband, David, of Butler; grandchildren D.J. Christy, LeeAnn Rieder, Nathan Christy, Ashley Rieder and Darian Rieder; one great-grandchild, Elliott; and her brother, Howard McDermott and wife, Jean, of Sarver.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James D. Rieder, who died Sept. 18, 2006; son, Jimmy D. Rieder; brothers, Donald and Bob McDermott; sister, Carrie Marie Hawk; and son-in-law, David E. Christy.
