SLIPPERY ROCK TWP - A Boyers man was not injured when the brakes gave out on the dump truck he was driving on Centreville Pike just before 11 a.m.

James Yoder, 39, was driving the truck full of gravel when his brakes gave out in a zone where traffic down to one lane for road work.

Rather than hit a line of stopped cars, Yoder drove off the side of the road at about 15 miles per hour, shearing a utility pole in half.

Power is out in the area and West Penn Power is on scene.

Traffic is still one lane.
