Clyde W. 'Pete' Sloan

Clyde W. "Pete" Sloan, 91, of the Lowrie House in Butler, formerly of Whitestown, died Saturday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born in Whitestown, Jan. 17, 1914, he was the son of Harry and Clara Shiever Sloan

He was a member of the Mount Nebo Presbyterian Church of Prospect, where he had been a trustee and treasurer.

Mr. Sloan retired from Halstead Mitchell in Zelienople and also had been a coal miner in the family business.

He was an avid gardener and enjoyed giving all he grew away.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ed (Beverly) Wehr of Butler; two granddaughters, Mrs. David (Melissa) Santillo of Pittsburgh and Mrs. Timothy (Kathi) Seezox of Meridian; and two great-grandsons, Nathan and Nicholas Seezox. He also is survived by six sisters, Mrs. Robert (Peg) Fassinger and Mrs. Edward (Beryl) Gilliland, both of Whitestown, Mrs. Ruth Spack, Mrs. Kenneth (Ethel) Kradel and Mrs. Ernie (Jean) Oesterling, all of Meridian, and Mrs. William (Mabel) Giles of Meadville; and three brothers, Ralph and Lawrence "Bud" Sloan, both of Whitestown, and Robert Sloan of Meridian

His wife, Pauline Fassinger Sloan, whom he married Aug. 14, 1937, died Sept. 27, 1992; A brother, Harold Sloan, also preceded him in death.

SLOAN - Friends of Clyde W. "Pete" Sloan, who died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2005, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at JAY BRYAN FUNERAL HOME, 443 Main St., Prospect. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with The Rev Curtis McDaniel, pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church in America, officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Burial Estates, Mount Chestnut.Memorial donations may be made to Mount Nebo Presbyterian Church, Prospect.
