John Branchen

John Branchen, 83, a resident of Sunrise Assisted Living in Adams Township, formerly of Gibsonia, died Thursday.

John served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy, was a proud member of the I.B.E.W. Local 5, and was a passionate Steelers fan.

He was the beloved husband for 29 years of Jene Branchen, whom he married April 11, 1981; loving father of Susan (Grover) Smith of Kennedy Township, John (Karen) Branchen Jr. of Middlesex Township, Kim (Melody) Branchen of Butler, Vicki (Stephen) Kasunich of Richland Township, Alan (Julie) Branchen of Ohio Township and Darryl (Terri) Branchen of Adams Township; and brother of Betty Sroka of Ingram. He also is survived by 28 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

branchen — Family and friends of John Branchen, who died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010, will be received on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at

<B>Schellhaas Funeral Home</B>, 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown. Services will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Darcy Hawk.
