Elisabeth “Liz” Wilhelmina Ruf McPoland, 91, of Eau Claire passed away peacefully of natural causes Tuesday morning at her home.

She was born May 31, 1921, in Lennep, Germany. She was the daughter of the late Wilhelm and Elizabeth Ruf.

Elisabeth was married to Victor Bernard McPoland in Switzerland in 1948. He preceded her in death on March 3, 1988.

Elisabeth moved to Pittsburgh in 1953 where she helped her husband in various business enterprises before obtaining her real estate license in 1970. In 2008, she was named Butler County Association of Realtors Realtor of the Year. Elisabeth eventually retired from Howard Hanna in 2009.

She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth (Joe) Gibson of Eau Claire and Maureen (Bob) Stankay of Avonmore, Pa.; one son, Victor B. McPoland of Cleveland, Ohio; two grandsons, fAe E. Gibson and Stephen V. Gibson, both of Eau Claire; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.
