Cause of death for Emlenton man undetermined

ALLEGHENY COUNTY — The cause of a 21-year-old Emlenton man’s death on Feb. 21 remains undetermined, and is being investigated by Pittsburgh police and the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office, a University of Pittsburgh spokesman said Wednesday.

Chase A. Longo, 21, was pronounced dead at 12:46 a.m. Sunday, in Pittsburgh.

University spokesman John Fedele said that Pitt had not been asked to contribute to the investigation into Longo’s death, and that his body was discovered at an off-campus residence on Ward Street. Fedele confirmed that Longo was a junior at the university, and was an engineering student.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office said that the cause and manner of Longo’s death remain undetermined, and the office was awaiting the results of lab tests, including a toxicology test.

Fedele said that Pitt had provided grief counseling and relocation services to “a couple” of roommates, but he was not sure if those living arrangements were permanent or temporary.

According to Longo’s web page, he was an alumnus of Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School, where he graduated with a 4.0 grade point average.
