Experts say people should avoid burning Sunday
The National Weather Service of Pittsburgh said it will be a dry Sunday and not ideal for burning.
The service issued a special weather statement at 11 a.m. Sunday, noting that there would be an increased risk of wildfires throughout the afternoon. The statement said the increased risk comes from low relative humidity, dry fine fuels and gusty winds.
“Open burning of any type is considered extremely dangerous at this time,” the statement said. “Any small fires could rapidly grow if they escape control.”
So far, Butler County 911 dispatchers have sent firefighters on at least three separate brush fire calls today.
