Wayne P. King

Wayne P. King, 78, of Salem, Ohio, passed away Thursday evening at his home.

He was born on April 17, 1935, in Bradys Bend, the son of the late James R. and Geneva (Sloan) King.

Wayne graduated from Karns City High School and received his mechanical engineering degree from Carnegie Tech.

He worked for Paxson Machine/Lehman Mills in Salem and retired in 2001.

Mr. King was a member of the St. Paul Catholic Church in Salem, a member of the Beaver Creek Sportsman Club, the American Legion Post in Sebring, Ohio, and a lifetime member of the 82nd Airborne Division Historical Society.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1956.

Wayne loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and camping.

His wife, Donna L. (Duespohl) King, who he married on Dec. 28, 1957, preceded him in death on July 3, 2003.

Survivors include his two sons, Greg (Roxanne) King of Salem, Ohio, and Eric (partner, Alan Hersker) of Oxbow, New York; his friend, Barb Biggins of Salem; his sister, Carol (Dick) Vitry of Denver, Colo.; his three brothers, Richard (Janet) King of Apple Valley, Minn., Tom (Lillian) King of Pittsburgh, and Joe (Debbie) King of Fuquay Varina, N.C.; and his four grandchildren, Meghan, Corey, Caitlyn and Kylie.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Denise Grimstad.

King— A funeral Mass for Wayne P. King, who passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Paul Catholic Church, 925 E. State St., Salem, Ohio.Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home, 1014 E. State St., Salem, Ohio. Burial will be at Bunker Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by the Salem Honor Guard.Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O.
