Dean Measel

Dean Henry Measel, 88, of Zelienople passed away Tuesday at Good Samaritan Hospice in Wexford.

Born on Nov. 14, 1925, in Marion Township, he was the son of the late George and Charlotte (Bicehouse) Measel.

Dean was a proud U.S. Army Air Corps veteran who served during World War II.

He was a member of the English Lutheran Church in Zelienople, a 50-year member of Masonic Lodge 429 F&AM, and a former president of the Zelienople Rotary Club, where he served for 44 years. Dean was a Paul Harris Fellow and senior member of the Zelienople Community Mausoleum.

He was the former partner and owner of the Dambach Lumber Co. in Harmony.

Dean loved children, enjoyed camping and gardening, and spoiled dogs. He was a loving, gentle man who will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Thelma (Zehner) Measel, who passed away on Jan. 1, 1995; his second wife, Grace (Gross) Measel, who passed away on Jan. 4, 2009; his brother, Clare; and his sister, Betty Pflugh.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his children, George (Sally) Measel of Harmony and Carol (Howard) Moser of Glenshaw; his five grandchildren, Wendy (Shaun) McLoughlin, Andrew Measel, Ryan (Megan) Moser, Ken (Lindsay) Moser and Karen Moser; and his three great-grandchildren, Morgan McLoughlin, Joshua McLoughlin and Claire Moser. In addition, he is survived by stepchildren, K.R. and Gail Gross and his stepgrandchildren, Madison and Spencer Gross.

MEASEL — The family of Dean Henry Measel, who passed away Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, will welcome friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.A funeral ceremony will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert A. Keplinger officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Zelienople Community Mausoleum.If desired, memorial contributions may be made in his honor in support of the English Lutheran Church, 200 E.
