Donald W. Oesterling

Donald W. Oesterling, 72, of Butler passed away at 8:50 p.m. Sunday at the Chicora Medical Center.

He was born on Feb. 3, 1942, in Butler to the late Gene Richard Oesterling and Betty Fennel Oesterling.

Don was a graduate of Butler High School and attended Butler County Community College.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Don worked in the Melt Shop at Butler Armco Steel, retiring in 2000.

He was a member of the St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Happy Hunters Sportsman's Club and the Chicora Moose Lodge. Don owned a racecar and enjoyed stock car racing, hunting, fishing and reading, and he loved watching sports.

Don is survived by his wife, Gayle P. Oesterling; his son, Eric Oesterling of Butler; his brother, Raymond Oesterling and his wife, Judy, of Butler; his sister, Lois McCall and her husband, Larry, of Chicora, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Oesterling — Private visitation and services were at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Butler, with the Rev. Alden Towberman of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating.
