Phyllis J. “Suddy” Gardner

Phyllis J. “Suddy” Gardner, 85, of Butler passed away Saturday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Butler, surrounded by her family.

Born July 7, 1932, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Gladys Ekas Stutz.

She retired from D & K Department Store as a manager and was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Herman.

She enjoyed playing cards and bingo with her sisters. She also enjoyed country western music and playing the lottery.

Surviving are one son, Kenneth (Deborah) Henry; one daughter, Karen (Lou) Osche of Butler; four grandchildren, Dustin (Cyndi) Henry, Desiree Henry (Rob) Cherepko, Jon (Shannon) Slupe and Eric Slupe; her great-grandchildren, Kaden Slupe, Kolton Slupe, Jayla Slupe, Kamryn Cherepko and Kendyl Cherepko; two sisters, Naomi Fishel and Maryann Frye; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Dick” Gardner, who died May 3, 1978; her son, Edward “Eddie” Henry, who died May 1, 1972; and her sister, Gladys “Honey” McKissick.

GARDNER — Family and friends of Phyllis J. “Suddy” Gardner, who died Saturday, March 3, 2018, will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler. A blessing service will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place at St. Mary Cemetery in Herman.
