Janet Rose McKnight, 62, of Evans City lost her courageous battle with ovarian cancer June 21 at Lutheran Senior Life, VNA, in Butler.

Janet graduated from Laurel High School and Slippery Rock University.She earned a master's degree from George Washington University.

Janet worked at Agway in New Castle and Seivers Market, opened a tack shop and then became a counselor for the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation.

Janet was an inspiration to her friends and family, always maintaining a positive attitude through life's trials and tribulations. Being in that spirit, she donated her body to science.

She is survived by a sister, Nancy (Jim) Moser; a nephew, Travis James Moser; an uncle, David (Dorothy) Frazier; her cousins, Ginny (Don) Dawson, Marilyn (Chuck) Moore, Wayne (Jane) Frazier, Richard (Angie) Hickey, Craig (Mimi) Williams, Todd (Leanne) Williams, Brad (Becky) Williams, Sam (Christy) Kildoo and Jim Kildoo.

She was preceded in death by her father, Donald C. McKnight; her mother, Marylou Kildoo McKnight Frazier; and her stepfather, Thomas Frazier.

MCKNIGHT — Visitation for Janet Rose McKnight, who died Thursday, June 21, 2018, will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at Mount Hermon Church, 3116 Frew Mill Road, New Castle.A memorial service will be held immediately following from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. with Pastor Evelyn Beebe and the Rev. Greg Allen officiating.Local arrangements were entrusted to Noga Funeral Home, 1142 Mill St., New Castle.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to Mount Hermon Church or for Run, Walk, Pittsburgh Chapter NOCC (National Ovarian Cancer Coalition) 1310 Old Freeport Road, PO Box 11561, Pittsburgh, PA 15238.
