Manfred

Mark D. Manfred, 53, of Butler died suddenly and unexpectedly Oct. 8 in the emergency room of the Alle-Kiski Medical Center in Natrona Heights.

Mark and his beloved dog, Arnie, were at his camp in Schenley on the Kiski River when he became ill.

Mark was born July 28, 1958, in Massena, N.Y., to the late David R. and Irene M. Manfred.

He came to Pittsburgh in 1969, graduated from North Hills High in 1976 and moved to Butler in 1982.

He was employed by Stanley Security Solutions since 1986, first as a locksmith, then a branch manager and finally as a salesman, where this year he rose to become one of the top salesmen in the country.

Family, faith and friends were the most important things in Mark's life. He loved people. Customers and co-workers quickly became friends, friends became like family. Always willing to help, he also loved practical jokes and was as quick to laugh when he was the recipient as he was when he was playing a joke on others.

Mark will be missed by his family: his wife of 26 years, Janet Mutz Manfred; his sons, Andrew (Kailyn) and Anthony (Morgan) Manfred, both of Butler; and his stepchildren, Michael (Catherine) Bradley III of Baden and Victoria (Jamie) Bolten of Renfrew. He also is survived by his stepgrandson, Jeffrey Ford of Oahu, Hawaii; a brother, Michael (Michelle) Manfred; four sisters, Diane (Robert) Moser and Donna (James) Tempert, all of North Hills, Marsha (Michael) Renner of Freedom and Debra (Mark) Pallone of Morristown, N.J.; his mother-in-law, Genevieve Mutz of Baden; a brother-in-law, Daniel (Leslie) Mutz of Renfrew; as well as many aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and a grandnephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, Anthony Mutz.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Butler.

The family would like to thank all those friends and family who stepped in with phone calls, visits, food, chainsaws and hugs.
