Dr. Stephen Ammon Secunda

Dr. Stephen Ammon Secunda passed away Sept. 9, 2011, surrounded by his loving family at the Hospice Care Center of Port Orange, Fla.

He was born Oct. 19, 1935, in Butler, to Stephen and Edna Secunda, the first of nine children.

Stephen proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper and medic. He graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic, Davenport, Iowa, in 1976. He practiced chiropractic and holistic medicine for 33 years.

He married his beloved wife, Nancy J. Secunda, July 18, 1977, and they began their new life together in Daytona Beach, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one sister.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Nancy (McIlvain) J. Secunda, of Port Orange, Fla.; a sister, Joan Codispot of Butler; a brother, Dennis Secunda, Port Orange, Fla.; a sister, Bonita Kosak of Vermont; a sister, Barbara Secunda, Port St. Lucie, Fla.; a sister Betsy Cessna of Ormond Beach, Fla. and a brother, Walter Secunda of Ormond-By-The-Sea, Fla. He is proudly survived by his four children, Lisa (Mark) McTaggart of Grand Cayman, Shane Secunda of Port Orange, Fla., Sara Secunda of Bedminster, N.J., and Stacy Secunda of Wilbur-By-The-Sea, Fla.; two grandchildren, Nicole Giuffre and Madison McTaggart; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and his loving pets, Boo, Olive, Caesar, Bear, and Odin.

<B>SECUNDA</B> — In lieu of flowers for Dr. Stephen Ammon Secunda, who passed away Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler Port Orange Care Center, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.An outdoor service and graveside ash interment will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, at Summit Cemetery, 181 Caldwell Drive, Butler, PA 16002.
