Alfred Dale Swigart
Alfred Dale Swigart, 86, of Morton Avenue died at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday in the Butler Memorial Hospital emergency room.
Born Aug. 30, 1920, in Kittanning, he was the son of Alfred Day Swigart and Anna Margaret Hetrick.
He was a World War II Army veteran and had worked in the records division for the U.S. government at the Underground Mines, Boyers.
Mr. Swigart was a Protestant. He was a member of Butler Masonic Lodge 272 F&AM and the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of New Castle. He belonged to the Butler County Amateur Radio Association and did the 10-10 weather net reports every night after 10 p.m. He also was a member of the American Radio Relay League and a member of the Civil War Round Table.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Mary Olive Taggart Swigart; two daughters, Dr. Valerie Swigart of Pittsburgh, and Lynn Large of Butler; a son, Garrison Swigart of North Carolina; six grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
A sister, Ms. Joan M. Swigart of Gallup, N.M.; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Two sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.
<B>SWIGART</B> — Friends of Alfred Dale Swigart, who died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St.Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev.
