Raymond B. Blaine D.D.S

Raymond B. Blaine D.D.S., 93, of Butler passed away peacefully at home Saturday following a lengthy illness.

He was born Nov. 28, 1924, in Pittsburgh, and was the son of the late Raymond Wesley and the late Bessie Bowman Blaine.

He was reared in Pittsburgh and in Kane, Pa.

Dr. Blaine was a member of the First Covenant United Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and was on the 200-year anniversary committee.

He attended Franklin and Marshall College and he earned his D.D.S. at the University of Pittsburgh in 1947.

Dr. Blaine served in the U.S. Navy V-12 during World War II and in the Naval Reserves following the war.

He moved to Butler and opened his dental practice in 1947. He practiced dentistry until 2016.

Dr. Blaine served as the president of the Butler Dental Society. He also served on the board of directors of the Butler Country Club, where he remained a member until 2017.

He served on the Butler School District board of directors for several years. For many years, he offered dental services to the residents at Sunnyview Nursing Home.

Dr. Blaine volunteered his services to area clergy, convents and to school students.

He is survived by his four children, William (Carol) Blaine of Chicago, Ill., Wesley (Felicia) Blaine of Fairfax, Va., Mary Elizabeth Blaine (Denny) Lemmo of Zelienople, and Christine (Jim Medved) Blaine of Washington, Pa.; his seven grandchildren, Jessica Gottsman, Penny Rimdzius, Tracey Phillips, Raymond Blaine Jr., Leslie Malkowski, Michael Lemmo and Jane Lemmo; and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Dr. Blaine was preceded in death by his brother, William Franklin Blaine; and his beloved wife, Mary Jane (Turnblacer) Blaine, who died Feb. 19, 2007.

BLAINE — Friends of Raymond B. Blaine D.D.S., who died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018, will be received by the family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday with Pastor John Silbert, officiant.Entombment will be at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.Officers and members of the VFW Post 249 of Butler, American Legion Post 683 of Saxonburg, American Legion Post 117 of Butler and American Legion Post 778 of Lyndora will conduct military honors at the cemetery.The family suggests in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Covenant United Presbyterian Church, 230 E.
