Joy Helen Bauer, 97, of Butler passed away at 8:30 p.m. Sunday at her home.

She was born Feb. 26, 1914, in West Kittanning, the daughter of the late Silas Marlin Sarvey and the late Effie (Bowser) Sarvey.

She was a member of the St. Paul Catholic Church.

She enjoyed gardening and flowers.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Cecil (Doris) Gold of Butler and Mrs. Howard (Mary) Skelley of Butler; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Freda Atwell of Renfrew and Amy Murphy of Butler; three brothers, Marlin (Myrtle) Sarvey of Prospect, Walter (Mary) Sarvey of Butler and Earl (Lena) Sarvey of Renfrew; and a number of stepbrothers and stepsisters.

She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Bessie Aggas Sarvey; her husband, Clair G. Bauer, who passed away April 10, 1980; a daughter, Helen Byers Davis; three sisters; and three brothers.

<B>BAUER </B>— Friends of Joy Helen Bauer, who died Sunday, May 8, 2011, will be received at <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at the St. Paul Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler, at 10 a.m. Thursday.
