Man charged with child porn on computer

EAST BUTLER — An East Butler man was charged Friday with possession of child pornography after investigators discovered hundreds of files on his computer allegedly depicting abusive content.

Christopher C. Lorenz, 44, is facing two counts of possession of child pornography and one count of criminal use of a communication facility, all felonies.

Agents of the state Attorney General’s Child Predator Section said Lorenz used file sharing computer software to download and share the files, according to court documents.

Agents from the office were doing an online investigation May 18 when they discovered an explicit video file being shared by Lorenz’s IP address. An investigation on June 10 revealed another file shared by the same address.

The two files both depicted girls under the age of 13 engaged in sexual acts, according to court documents.

Agents and state police went to Lorenz’s Grant Avenue home Friday with a search warrant. They found a desktop computer, two laptops, and media storage devices. Apparent child pornography files were found on the desktop.

He confirmed that he was the only one who used the desktop. He also admitted to using the computer to download pornography depicting children as young as six years old.

Lorenz is in Butler County Prison on $50,000 bail. He has a preliminary hearing Tuesday.
