Butler track sweeps Rams

Butler’s boys track and field team swept the relay events and Ryan Porch placed first in the high jump and long jump in a 109-41 dual-meet victory over Pine-Richland on Monday at Art Bernardi Stadium.

Presley Ornelas won the 110 hurdles and Brayden Young the 100 dash.

The Golden Tornado also won the girls meet, 94-56, after taking six of the seven field events.

Slippery Rock’s boys placed first at Saturday’s Big Red Invitational at West Middlesex, tallying 129 points. Hickory was second with 106.

Levi Prementine won the 110-meter hurdles (16.25 seconds) and high jump (5 feet, 9 inches) for the Rockets. Seaton Wozniak claimed the shot put (51 feet, 4.75 inches), Dustin Joyce the long jump (20-10.5) and Nate Jesteadt the triple jump (38-5.75).

Wozniak was second in the discus, Tyler Arblaster second in the 400 meters. Placing third for the Rockets were Zac Hoehn in the shot put, Blaise Mullen in the javelin, Prementine in the long jump, along with the 4x400 and 4x100 relay teams.

Slippery Rock’s girls finished fourth with 64.5 points. Audrey Kura (100 meters), Katie Book (triple jump) and Natalie Double (javelin) all placed second, along with the 4x800 relay team. Julia Coffaro took third in the long jump.

Boys Volleyball

Coleton Welter tallied 11 kills while Mason McCall and Alex Moncello both contributed 13 assists to lead Butler to a 3-2 win over Seton-LaSalle.

Butler won the match by scores of 27-25, 18-25, 15-25, 25-22 and 15-5.

Kaleb Proudfoot added three blocks and Tyler Figlioli 18 digs for the Golden Tornado (4-2), who travel to Hempfield on Wednesday.

Lacrosse

Butler’s girls team faced off against Fairview for Senior Night, claiming a 14-7 victory Monday. Evelynn Vissari netted six goals and Bree Dittman three. Alana Collins, Vanessa Drohan, Carli Baker, Lindsay Gavula, and Tori Stevenson also scored for the Golden Tornado.

Goalie Lauren LeGrand turned away 11 shots in the win.
