Today — Police accused Justin P. Angerette, 37, of Butler of stealing a bracelet with six charms from a home in the 300 block of Kaufman Drive. The suspected theft happened between April 10 and 24.The owner told police that she suspected Angerette because he had been at her home during the time the property, valued at $370, was taken. Angerette is charged with theft.7:53 p.m. Thursday — Celeste M. Opperman, 32, of Butler was arrested after she was caught allegedly shoplifting $27 worth of merchandise from the Rite Aid store on South Main Street.Opperman, who has two prior shoplifting convictions, is charged with felony retail theft. She was placed in the Butler County Prison to await arraignment this morning.7:46 p.m. Wednesday — A Butler couple ended up in prison following an altercation with a man on South Sixth Avenue.A call for a street fight sent police to the scene where they found Trevor G. Walker, 24, and Dustin J. Blinn, 31, both of Butler, in the road and Stephanie R. Steiger, 28, standing in the doorway of her apartment in the 700 block of West New Castle Street, where she lives with Walker.Walker's mouth was bleeding and Steiger's forehead was red and swollen, according to a police report.Steiger told officers that Walker had punched her in the head earlier that day during a domestic dispute, before he went to work.Walker said when he came home he found Steiger and Blinn at his apartment, which apparently led to an argument. Blinn told police that Walker jumped him from behind and started to fight.A teen, who happened to be walking by, heard people arguing and saw Walker and Blinn fighting, according to a police report. The boy recounted that while Blinn had hold of Walker, Steiger came up and punched Walker in the face several times.Police arrested Walker and Steiger, who both were arraigned on charges of simple assault and disorderly conduct, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail each. Blinn was cited for disorderly conduct.

Thursday — Police charged a Maryland woman with trying to obtain powerful painkillers with a forged prescription she presented Feb. 1 at the Greater Butler Mart's Rite Aid store.The suspect, Jennifer R. Thims, 24, of Hagerstown, allegedly signed the name of a Kittanning physician on the fraudulent prescription for 120 oxycodone pills.Accompanied by her attorney, Thims turned herself in at the office of District Judge Kevin O'Donnell, who arraigned her on charges of forgery and attempted fraudulent acquisition of a controlled substance, both felonies.Additionally, she faces misdemeanor charges of identity theft, possessing an instrument of crime and attempted possession of a controlled substance. She is free on her own recognizance.Wednesday — Chad N. Walter, 20, of Center Township was charged with corruption of minors after he allegedly helped a 15-year-old girl run away from her home in Lyndora last month.Walter also denied knowing anything about the girl's whereabouts when police called him March 24 while the girl was missing, according to court documents.Police on March 25 found the girl with Walter at a home in the 1000 block of Center Avenue.

Monday — A car in a parking area in the 100 block of Garden Avenue near Tidball Avenue was broken into twice between Saturday and Monday.A Galaxy IV smart phone was taken in the first theft. On Monday night, a money card and a prescription pill bottle with various medications were taken. The combined value of the stolen items is about $650.

12:21 p.m. Thursday — One person was hurt in a three-vehicle wreck in Slippery Rock Township.The crash happened when a car driven by Michael D. Stefanick, 21, of Nanty Glo, Cambria County, turned into the path of a minivan on Kiester Road at a Slippery Rock University parking lot entrance just west of Harmony Road.The car and van, driven by Casey L. Peterson, 21, of Pittsburgh collided, spinning the car into another car driven by Emily E. McKissick, 22, of Slippery Rock.Stefanick, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to the Grove City Medical Center with minor injuries. Police said he was cited for making an improper left turn.Thursday — A thief stole four rolls of roofing ice guard valued at $400 from a construction site at The Grove housing development on Harmony Road in Slippery Rock Township. The suspect possibly was driving a red Chevrolet pickup truck.The property, owned by Campus Crest Construction of Charlotte, N.C., was taken between 9:30 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. Thursday. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.7:19 p.m. Wednesday — Erick J. Melendez Burgos, 36, of Renfrew was arrested after allegedly assaulting Ashley S. Van Scyoc at a home on Shannon Road in Connoquenessing. He is accused of punching Van Scyoc in the face four or five times, causing two large lumps on her face.Melendez Burgos was arraigned on charges of simple assault, child endangerment and harassment, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $7,500 bail.Wednesday — A vandal smashed the windows and headlights of a tractor truck at Soose Auto Salvage in Center Township. The vandalism happened between 10 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. Wednesday.
