Slippery Rock Police1:45 a.m. July 21 — An Alabama man with arrested for drunken driving on Franklin Street. Police said they pulled over the suspect, Brandon D. Defee, 27, of Luverne after he made two turns onto North Main and Franklin streets without using his turn signals.Defee had a “strong odor” of alcohol coming from him, according to court documents, and police also noticed two open beer cans in the center console of his pickup truck.He later failed field sobriety tests and was taken for a breath test, which showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.137 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.Defee is charged with driving under the influence, driving with an open container of alcohol and not using turn signals.July 19 — Charges against Denise V. Moesta, 39, were withdrawn during a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge William O’Donnell. Moesta was initially charged with misdemeanor simple assault by Slippery Rock Police after they say she allegedly assaulted her boyfriend, Ryan Conner, during a domestic dispute at their apartment in the 300 block of West Cooper Street on June 30.July 18 — Two teenagers were charged with drugged driving in connection with the same June incident in Slippery Rock.Both defendants — Scott A. Cratty, 18, of Slippery Rock and McKenna L. Kennedy, 18, of Portersville — were found passed out in a car about 2:20 a.m. June 21 at the Giant Eagle parking lot at Slippery Rock Plaza, according to court documents.A 15-year-old girl also was passed out in the vehicle.Police said they had to knock on the window to awaken Cratty, who was in the driver’s seat with the key in the ignition. Kennedy was in the front passenger seat and the girl was seated in the back.When Cratty opened the door, troopers got the strong whiff of burned marijuana. He admitted that he had smoked marijuana earlier that night and had driven to Slippery Rock to “get high” with his two passengers, documents said.Police spoke to Kennedy, who also appeared to be impaired. She, too, admitted to earlier smoking “a lot” of marijuana at a party with friend before driving to the Giant Eagle to meet Cratty and the 15-year-old girl.The girl smelled both of marijuana and alcohol, police said. She acknowledged having “a few puffs” of marijuana, documents said, and consuming alcohol at a party that night.A search of Cratty’s car turned up two Ziploc bags of marijuana and other contraband. In the trunk, police found four bottles of alcohol.Cratty and Kennedy were taken to Grove City Medical Center for blood tests. Following toxicology results, police charged both defendants with driving under the influence and disorderly conduct.Additionally, Cratty is charged with possession marijuana and drug paraphernalia, underage possession of alcohol and furnishing alcohol to a minor.Police said they charged the girl with underage drinking and disorderly conduct.

State Police, Butler2:58 a.m. Sunday — A man was injured when he lost control of his sports car and crashed over a guardrail on Route 528 near the boat launch in Franklin Township.State police are investigating, but an accident report, including the driver’s name, was not immediately available.The man, believed to be in his late 20s or early 30s, was northbound when his Mazda Miata traveled across the southbound lane and into a guardrail, emergency crews said. The car flipped over the guardrail and ended on its roof about 25 feet off the road. Prospect volunteer firefighters and Butler Ambulance Service paramedics were called. The man was able to get out of the car on his own and was sitting on the guardrail when crews arrived. He had a moderate injuries, including a gash to the head, said Chief Ken Wilson of the Prospect Volunteer Fire Department.The man was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital. His condition was not known this morning. His car had to be towed.July 19 — Donte A. Brandon, 22, of Butler was charged with stealing DJ equipment and other property in May from an apartment in Slippery Rock Township.The property owner, Joshua Klein, told police that he was attending the party at a friend’s home at the Pine Glen apartments May 7 when Brandon showed up and punched him, according to court documents.The defendant allegedly damaged several items in the apartment that belonged to the victim. He also is accused of taking Klein’s music-mixing machine, audio cords, lights, laptop computer and cell phone.Brandon is charged with misdemeanor counts of theft and criminal mischief, and a summary charge of harassment.July 19 — Police charged a West Virginia man with impersonating a public servant stemming from an incident at a Brady Township home.Malachi J. Anthony, 48, of Moundsville is accused of showing up at the home on Lilac Drive. He and an unknown man with him, according to court documents, told the woman who lives there they were from the county’s drug task force.They said they had a search warrant to look for heroin belonging to the woman’s daughter. The victim let the men inside. They later left in a sport utility vehicle.The woman provided police with the SUV’s license plate number, which eventually helped identify Anthony.

State Police, Franklin8:27 a.m. Sunday — Shelby S. Pepmeyer, 22, of Connoquenessing was hurt when she lost control of her car and overturned on Route 8 just north of Slippery Rock Creek Road in Irwin Township.Pepmeyer, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Grove City Medical Center with arm pain. Her car had to be towed.
