Gall

Richard A. Gall, 86, of Butler passed away Friday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

Born in Butler on June 6, 1927, he was the son of the late Edmond E. and Ruth I. Crispin Gall Sr.

He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Navy.

He was retired from the Bessemer & Lake Erie Railroad, where he was employed for 15 years as a maintenance foreman.

He also was a Butler City policeman for 20 years and a bus driver for Kiddie City for eight years.

He was a member of the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, the American Legion Post 117 of Butler, the VFW Post 249 of Butler and the Fraternal Order of Police.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved gardening and watching the Steelers and the Pirates with his wife. He was greatly loved, and he'll be sadly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Josephine A. Muto Gall, to whom he was married for 65 years; two sons, Richard D. Gall and his wife, Rita, of Butler and William L. Gall and his wife, Mary, of Butler; two daughters, JoAnne “Sis” Pinto and her husband, John, of Renfrew and Diana L. Salisbury and her husband, Roy, of Moon Township; and six grandchildren, Richard Gall and his wife, Heidi, of Butler, Elizabeth Gall Karns and her husband, David, of Erie, Jeff Salisbury of Butler, Shelly Balbach and her husband, Bill, of Moon Township, John Pinto and his wife, Dina, of Butler and Nicole Cuny and her husband, Jon, of Butler.

He also is survived by 10 great-grandchildren, Autumn, Miranda and Cody Gall, Silas, Zechariah and Jon-Mark Balbach, Jada and Brielle Pinto, and Drew and Reid Cuny; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister and brother; one sister, Helen Krampert; and two brothers, Edmond Gall Jr. and Anthony Gall.

GALL — Friends of Richard A. Gall, who died Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, will be received in the Martin Funeral Home Inc., 429 Center Ave., Butler, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. Burial will take place in St. Michael's Cemetery.The bereavement group of St. Michael the Archangel Parish will meet at the funeral home at 3 p.m. Sunday to conduct a scriptural wake service.Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the VFW Post 249 and the Lyndora American Legion Post 778.For more information, visit www.martinfh.net.
