Shirley Jean Stitt
Shirley Jean Murphy Stitt, 76, of Indiana passed away Friday at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born Oct. 28, 1935, in Templeton, the daughter of Charles and Gladys (Vogel) Unger.
Shirley lived in Western Pennsylvania all of her life and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Butler. She worked for Sears and later was self-employed as a beautician and owner of Stitt's Nursery. Though she stayed busy, Shirley always loved being at home with her family.
She married John F. Stitt Sr. on June 27, 1953, and Shirley enjoyed taking trips south with John each year.
Holidays were very important to Shirley and she loved cooking and serving holiday meals for her family. Reading was one of Shirley's favorite hobbies and she always stayed in touch with her many friends and family through e-mail. She will be best remembered as being a loving and caring wife and mother, and all who knew her will never forget her thoughtful and kind spirit and the way she was a friend to everyone.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 58 years, John F. Stitt Sr.; sons, John Stitt and his wife, Patricia, of Butler and Mark Stitt and his wife, Margaret, of Ford City; one daughter, Kimberly Boarts and her husband, Randy, of Indiana, Pa.; grandsons, Joshua Boarts of New Kensington, Michael Boarts of West New York, N.J., Brett Stitt, of Kittanning and Chris Stitt of Ford City; one great-granddaughter, Avery Boarts of West New York, N.J.; and sisters, Rose Ann Easley of Butler and Barbara Kennedy of Templeton.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
